We recommend arriving by Tuesday or Wednesday so you have time to settle in, grab a drink and get on Costa Rica time before the festivities begin.

If you can swing it, come early or stay late!

Liberia International Airport (LIR) is the closest and easiest airport for Playa Negra. From there, plan for roughly a 1.5-hour drive depending on traffic and road conditions.

San José (SJO) is also an option, but it is significantly farther away.

We recommend arranging transportation in advance rather than figuring it out when you land. Rental cars and private transfers are both great options depending on how much exploring you plan to do. Please reach out if you have questions.

Not necessarily, but we recommend one if you want to explore. Playa Negra is a small beach town, and having your own wheels makes it much easier to visit nearby beaches, restaurants and towns.

If your plan is pool → wedding → beach → repeat, you can absolutely get by with arranged transportation for the wedding events.

Welcome to Costa Rica! Expect a mix of paved roads, dirt roads, potholes and the occasional adventure.

You do not need to be an off-road expert, but take your time, avoid blindly trusting Google Maps when it sends you down something questionable, and embrace the journey.

Welcome Party: Yes! Bring the kiddos.

Wedding Ceremony + Reception: We love your little ones, but we're asking that children sit this one out and enjoy the evening with a babysitter at your hotel or rental.

Think elevated beach, not beach casual.

For the wedding, lightweight fabrics, color, prints and breathable materials are your friends. Ladies, we recommend block heels, wedges or flats rather than stilettos.

December is one of the most beautiful times of year in Guanacaste. Expect warm days, tropical evenings and lots of sunshine.

That said, you're still in the tropics. Pack sunscreen, bug spray, a wide brim hat and something light to throw over your shoulders at night.

Afternoon thunderstorms can happened but not expected!

Credit cards are widely accepted, but we recommend carrying some cash for smaller restaurants, tips, beach stops and those places you stumble upon along the way.

Both U.S. dollars and Costa Rican colones are commonly used in tourist areas.

For casual breakfast and lunch, you can usually play it by ear.

For dinner — especially Mycelium, Villa Deevena, Le Carbone and other popular spots — we recommend making a reservation. It's wedding week, and there will be a lot of us descending on a very small town!

Sunscreen, bug spray, sunglasses, swimsuit, hat, sandals, comfortable shoes, water bottle and a light layer for evenings.

And don't forget your passport. That one is somewhat important.
